US Finals Bid for Senior Pom

Blast's Senior Pom team recently travelled to their first competition outside of Scotland and competed at the BCA Midlands event.  It was an really tough competition with lots of great teams taking part.  We were extremely lucky to place in the top 3 at this event and the whole team were over the moon!

We were even more excited when we learned that due to our high score in the division, we were awarded a bid to compete at the US Finals in Virginia next year.  A giant congratulations to all our girls who have worked extremely hard this year.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the team but will cost around £20,000 to take the full team to compete so we will be organising various fundraisers throughout the year to help us reach our target.

If anyone would like to sponsor Blast or is able to help in any way through donations for raffle prizes etc then please get in touch by emailing mail@blastdanceacademy.com

No donation is too small to help in our fundraising!

Show Q&A

Q  I have ordered tickets for the show.  When will I get these?

A  All tickets will be given out at the dress rehearsal on Sunday.  If you are not attending the dress rehearsal then please arrange for somebody to collect these on your behalf

Q  Are there still tickets available and will they be available to buy on the door?

A  Yes there are still plenty of tickets available on both nights so please encourage all your friends and family to come along as all of the girls have been working extremely hard this year.  We also expect to still be able to sell some tickets on the door like last year.  Please note that tickets are unallocated seating so you can add to existing ticket orders and still be able to all sit together on the night.

Q What time is the dress rehearsal on Sunday?

A  The dress rehearsal is in Allander Sports Centre from 1.30pm - 5pm on Sunday 24th June.  Beginners and Tiny cheerleaders will be able to leave at 3pm

Q  What time has my child to be at the Mitchell Theatre on the nights of the show?

A  Beginners should be there no later than 6pm, Primary dance, Youth dance, Tiny, Mini & Youth cheer should be there no later than 5.30pm and everyone else should be there no later than 5pm

Q  What should hair be like for the show?

A  Beginners should have their hair tied back neatly in a ponytail.  Everyone else should have a neat ponytail with a quiff at the front

Q  Have all pupils to wear fake tan?

A  We do not ask pupils to wear fake tan for the show although most pupils do.  Please note that if you are going to wear fake tan then it MUST NOT be instant tan and instead should be a wear off tan that develops in a few hours.  Instant tan will rub off onto costumes and stain them

Q  What are the class times and extra practices for each group this week?

A  Please see the post below for all groups and their practice times.

Q What costumes has my child to wear and when will I receive these?

A  Costume lists were emailed to all pupils yesterday and costumes will be given out at classes this week to allow pupils to bring them to the dress rehearsal on Sunday.  Please email mail@blastdanceacademy.com if you have not received this email

Q  Will there be a DVD of the show that I can buy?

A  Yes the show is being filmed both nights by videostars.  DVD's will cost £20 and you can choose which night you would like to order and hand in an order form on the night of the show.  DVD's are normally available as soon as we start back in August and you do not need to pay for the DVD until you pick it up.

Show extra practice times

Please see below all groups and the class times for this week and next.  Remember that if you do both dance pom and stunt that you will need to check all 3 sections.  If any class times appear to overlap then do not worry as I am aware of this.

Record Breakers

On Friday 7th October, members of Blast Cheer Squad attended a charity event hosted by Barclays Wealth to raise money for CLIC Sargent which is a charity supporting children with cancer.

The event was to break the world record for the most people playing swingball at the same time.  Over 210 people participated to successfully break the Guiness World Record.  Blast cheerleaders helped out by cheering the participants along and also having a game of swingball to become Record Breakers.

The event was a success, raising over £6000 which goes to a very worthwhile cause.
